The Triad is not only the Heart of the Carolinas but is also the crossroads to both the center of the state and the eastern seaboard. The traffic that travels the I-40 and I-85 crossroads is by far the most visible area to make such a park the most accessible to all who visit this ever growing region.
Community Development
It is important that our children and their children have the opportunity to learn about the many heroes that have served in the military throughout the generations. History is one of our most valuable sources of learning.
The Carolina Field of Honor will give families answers to many questions about the past and at the same time provide park facilities to compliment family values though education and recreation. Natural surroundings with walkways and picnic areas will offer historical walks and monuments for visitors.
The Parade Deck will provide seating for ceremonies, various events and educational classes.
This will also be a resting place for veteran monuments and other artifacts that are in jeopardy from development.
Economical Development
It is a must that we show our patriotism to the work force in our community. Most Veterans gauge a community on how the military is welcomed and supported. Revenues in construction, maintenance and tourism will ripple through the local economy. Materials planned for the site will be native to the area and to North Carolina such as granite, mortar and brick.
The Carolina Field of Honor will be meaningful to every occupation in the Triad because veterans serve in every aspect of the work force; Airport, law enforcement, firefighters, medical professionals, lawyers, corporate executives and the carpenters, electricians and plumbers that build our community.
Education
Students and tourists will stroll down a walkway marked with plaques commemorating the legends and conflicts in which our heroes prevailed in both war and peacetime.
Other amenities will include a non-denominational outdoor chapel, a reflecting pool , pavilions, picnic tables, restrooms, and botanical enhancements. All areas will be handicap accessible.
Travel and Tourism
Easy access from I-40 will ensure visitors can locate the park. This star attraction will benefit local businesses and stands to become a destination point for tourists.
Park Design
The proposed park will utilize every means possible to leave a green footprint that will be designed to use natural and recycled materials that are easily maintained and sustained.
